The Fort McMurray fire continues to burn out of control, and the latest number I've read is that it has burned through 505,000 hectares. This number is greater than the entire area burned in the province of Alberta through all of last year. And it's only May. Apparently, over the next two weeks, an additional 1000 firefighters will be brought in to fight this fire. But it's just one fire. One can imagine a scenario in which there are so many fires this summer, that there won't be enough people to handle them all. Yes, that's just speculation on my part, however it's shaping up to be hot and dry over the next few months, so there's no telling what might happen.
Here is a link to the global temperature change between 1850 and 2016. No doubt, the increased forest fires are directly related to this temperature increase.
I'll be on the road again today, as I meander my way to the next house sit engagement.
Still, there's always time to sit on a bench, and just be. We are all human beings, not human doings.
Sitting on this bench, got me thinking about the old Jimmy Buffet song, "He Went to Paris"
Happy Trails,
