MY FURRY ALARM CLOCK

Normally, I don't use an alarm clock to wake me each day. The one exception is on a travel day, when I need to make a public transport connection.  But since I arrived here, I have a living, breathing and furry alarm clock. (See above photo).  That would be Bert.

Like any typical furball, he sleeps the whole day away, so that he can be out roaming around after dark.  Because he has his own door, he can come and go as he sees fit.  The alarm clock version of Bert usually "rings" anywhere between about 1:30am and 4:30am*, much to the chagrin of the resident house-sitter, and probably Mac the bonehead, although he's probably used to the routine after all of the years that they've been together.

Fortunately for me, I'm now handling the situation a bit better than at the start.  When he arrives on the bed, I just pretend that I am asleep, and this seems to have a positive effect.  Bert settles down and goes to sleep, at least for a little while.
From that point on, the three of us can resume our rest, and begin the day at a later hour.  Mind you, most days, I am up anywhere between 5:30am and 6am, because I never really get back into a deep sleep once Bert is on the scene.

Mac having a word with Bert about his nocturnal activities.

And just to give the reader a sense of what Bert sounds like each morning, I managed to capture his meowing this morning.

*I've revised these times from my blog on July 14th.  Seems like the longer I'm here, the longer the time span for Bert's morning wake-up calls.
