FURBALLS RULE

It's official.  There are definitely two furballs living at this house.  I have photographic proof, as can be seen below.

ZIGGY

SOPHIE

As you can probably tell by the photos, Ziggy has been the more outgoing furball.  Sophie, not so much.  But at least they have finally come around and been somewhat sociable.  Perhaps they have read the words below, and that is why they spend so much of their time in the shadows.

Another clue as to their nature is displayed on the wall at the front entrance to the house.  No truer words were written when it comes to Ziggy and Sophie.

There is also another sign hanging on the wall by the front door.  So far, nobody has taken up the offer, and even if the door bell had been rung, I doubt whether the furballs would cooperate.

The influence these two have around the house is on display with some of the household items, like the one below.

This is the final week here, prior to heading back north to Washington.  I doubt if the furballs will be sad about that.

Happy trails,

INVISIBLE CATS and POLITICS

Invisible cats. Or so it seems. After almost an entire week, one would be hard pressed to really believe that there are any furballs here, let alone two of them.  However, the cracks are beginning to appear in their defenses.  There has been the occasional sighting.  At least they have left evidence that they are here in the house, in the form of empty food dishes and full litter boxes.

On a totally different note.  It's interesting being in the USA during an election year.  For some strange reason, people are still under the impression that voting is going to actually make a difference. However, the system has been broken for so long, and so corrupted by the monied interests, that it is beyond redemption at this point.

Perhaps the furballs have the right idea after all.  Eat, poop, sleep and keep a low profile.

Happy trails,
Paul

TRANSITION TIME

Thoughts of an enjoyable time spent with friends at the Mud Hut in New Mexico.
Now, its time to prepare for the next house sit, back in Oregon.
Two cats.  Two weeks.  Too much?  Not likely.

Happy trails,

LUCKY NUMBER 7

March 7th finds the Thoughtful Wanderer enjoying his 7th ( and next to last visit), here at the Mud Hut in New Mexico.
When driving here with Guy on Friday, somehow, we missed a turn-off which added about forty additional miles to our journey.  I was driving, but my navigator, Guy, was busy on his cell phone, so we missed the exit.   We agree to disagree who was at fault.
After we got off of the interstate, I was still travelling at interstate highway speed, which resulted in us being pulled over by the New Mexico state patrol.  A $72.00 speeding ticket was the outcome. I guess it could have been worse, knowing how some of the police in this country operate, however this state trooper was very polite. I mentioned this fact to Guy as we drove on, and he said, "well of course he was, because we were two middle aged white guys." I suspect that there is truth in that statement.
We eventually arrived safe and sound at the Mud Hut even though it was later than expected.  I'm looking forward to my time here, which will be much shorter than my previous visit.

Happy Trails
